The Word Studio
… where your fine writing becomes great …
Welcome to The Word Studio. As a published novelist and writer of personal essays, memoir and poetry, I am here to share my love of language, its power and potential to create moving and engaging stories. My background as an ESL instructor for over fifteen years has given me a keen eye to the foibles and pitfalls of our very complex language. Check me out on the About page! Read my own writing here and on my author site andrewbinks.ca.
This is the big picture. As a team, you and I will expose strengths and weaknesses of structure and balance. We will look at plot and subplot(s) as they relate to the structure.
Sometimes known as a stylistic edit. You and I will evaluate consistency of voice, appropriate language, style and fluidity, word choice and content. We focus on keeping our reader engaged. We take into account your mother language as well as the cultural nuances of your background.
This is the fine print. We’ll look at grammar, punctuation and spelling as they relate to flow and development. As a grammar and language instructor I have developed an eye and ear for the subtleties and nuances of language that enhance a piece of writing and take it to the next level.
